Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took them both for some reason

I found myself at some point yesterday 2,000 words shy of even the previous day's posted progress. I was clearly moving backward. I wrote some words out of desperation, and then some more out of what could only have been some kind of self-directed spite.

In the evening, I decided to try another approach. I sat down at the keyboard and started writing on a different novel. This is more or less the one I had tried to write when I was 19. The concept for the book and a lot of the ideas I had planned for it to contain just seemed so much more compelling to me. I rather quickly wrote 3,000 words.

Somehow this energized me to return to the NaNo project, where I wrote another 3,000 words before midnight.

I'm trying to take CC2383's regurgitation of the NaNo website (in the comments of my last post) to heart. From where I'm standing I have a lot of words and anecdotes with the same characters in them, but no overall story that I can see. Which makes it a bit tough to plod on.

My plan at the moment is to continue to write 3,000 words a day on each project. If I can do this, I will actually have two sets of 50,000 words at the end of the month. I figure that'll make me feel pretty good, even thought neither project is likely to be complete at 50,000.

Thank god I have nothing else to do this month.

I think it's great you're pushing really hard. I think I'm already out so all I can do is cheer others on from the side. I like the title of this post a lot...
