Making plans for Nyquil®

When I got sick in the early part of September, I was a little glad. I tend to get sick every autumn, but only once every autumn, so I figured the weather was clear for my trip to England and whatever other plans I might have wanted to make.

When I got sick in October, while still in England, I told myself that I hadn't been all that sick in September anyway, so this was the sickness of my autumn. When all was said and done, I remained sick right up until NaNo started for me on the 7th of November, and kept a cough for weeks after that. Still, using the once a year model that I have developed over the last few years, I wasn't overly concerned.

When I awoke on Saturday to discover a cloudy head and burning throat, I was just angry. Three times in four months? Not at all fair. This is probably the greatest frequency of illness that I've had since the run in 1983 or '84 that caused me to miss a bunch of fifth grade.

So I've grabbed an extra blanket and have been sleeping a lot lately. Later, I plan to drink some soup. Pretty exciting shit, being sick.

Bonus points to anyone who understood the title of this post, as it required a knowledge of late '70s English singles and American cold remedies.

I used to listen to XTC a lot, in fact, it was the Chicago boyfriend in the 8os, who took me canoeing, who got me into them . . . Look after yourself, post-viral shit is no fun - from one who knows! (The UK is so goddamn damp, it probably made you sick, I can only apologise.)

Whisky is good. None of that Jack Daniels rubbish though. Nice single malt. Perhaps a good hot curry as well. And kid's telly. Did you get Bagpuss over there? Bagpuss has healing powers.

Get well soon.

Hey Hey!

Absolutely wonderful title today.

Cracked me up and made me want to tell people about your blog...

Otis: Yep.

NMJ: I've been informed by my attorney(s) that I cannot hold the citizenry of a nation responsible for the weather I experience there. There is, therefore, no need for your apology.

Julia: Not knowing my whiskeys, I ended up with the very brand you ridiculed above. Seems to do a little something, though. Curry is a little harder to obtain here in the States. From my house, one must drive for miles.

Please tell me more abouyt Bagpuss. By the name alone my curiosity is piqued.

Anon: Well, hopefully you resisted the urge to publicize my blog. God knows how I'd make room for the extra readers. I'd been sitting on that title since that last time I got sick, though, so it was nice to finally be able to use it.
