Did I mention...?

You may not have heard, Blogreader, but there is a fiction contest going on now. Where? Why, right here! There's a huge graphic to the left and everything. According to the press materials I received, it is Great, Big, Awesome, and (short).

Sixteen brave souls have sent stories so far. Will yours be next? Statistically, of course, the answer to that is "no," as only one entry can be next at any given time. But you get the idea.

Now I know all of you are eager to enter the contest yourselves (if you haven't already), and of course you are still welcome to do so. There are still plenty of seats at this table. There is no limit on the number of seats at this table. It's a very special table.

There is still plenty of time to get your story done and sent in.

I'm pretty excited about the response so far. There is some great work being sent in, and I hope you've taken the time to read what these talented entrants have come up with. If not, click on that graphic I mentioned, and scroll down to find the 16 terrific submissions up at this moment.

There are few things that may need a little clarification. Submissions should include "Vision Fiction Contest" in the subject line of the email. And within the email, please provide the information from the sample below:

Name: John D. Annypenny
Screen name: Lennypenny Smallfellow

Website: annypenny/joojoo.edu

Country: Fredonia

This just helps me keep track of things a lot easier. Plus, when you win, there won't be any unnecessary delays in getting your greedy little hands on your prizes.

Also, some of the dates are wrong in the contest announcement. Entries will be received until the end of Wednesday the 7th, 12 midnight CST (GMT -6). Voting will commence on the 8th, end the 13th, and winners will be announced on February 15th on this site. Sorry I screwed the dates up.

For those of you who can't, won't, don't or shon't enter yourselves, don't forget to vote for your favorite story starting on the 8th. And authors should vote via email, not in the comments section of the entries.

I want to enter. Really I do.
I have no time. You've picked my busiest week of the year ... I think it was a conspircay.

Can't find the entries. I am an idiot though.

Hello. I've just been enjoying reading the entries, thank you. I don't know, but I imagine you must have felt something akin to dread as you contemplated the dark prospect of no entries being submitted. I imagine you must now feel quite relieved.

And if you don't, you certainly should. This is already a very impressive response, to my mind. Take a bow, Mr Moon, you have done a good thing and you have done it well. And I, for one, salute you.

Kind regards and greetings from Ireland etc...

Lovely Caroline, - there is a lovely graphic thing in the left-hand sidebar advertising the competition. It says 'click here for details'. If you click on it, you will find the details of the competition, including entries. You are not an idiot. But clearly you are a very tired bunny and have been spending far too much time in Woollies. You need to relax. How about some marking?? x

Caroline: I am not accepting excuses until Thursday. There is still plenty of time for people to come up with an entry, and I'll not have people saying "Well, Caroline didn't enter! I don't wanna either."

PE: There was a period of time when I thought I might have to come up with 10 or so entries on my own, to create the appearance that the contest had gone smoothly. I was shooting for somewhere areound 20 entries, and it looks like we're gonna pass that pretty soon.

Thanks for all your well wishes and complimentary statements. I swear, I'd loan you the money if I had it.

Ms. M: Hello to you, too. Oh, right, you didn't say hello to me. You just came here to talk to Caroline. Fair enough. (sobs to self)

Goodness me, how rude and un-British am I? Mr Moon, greetings from across the pond and apologies for lurking on your street corner chatting to my blog friends. Looking forward to the voting...x

Ms. M: I wasn't actually bothered at all by this development. I've noticed that some of you guys at the cool blogs table seem to chat with one another on each others' blogs, and I remarked to a friend yesterday that your comment might very well mean I was finally being accepted.

I think it is rather that I am such a fuckwit and people feel the need to comment as a result!
Sorry Mr Maht Moon Tooples Man/Woman ... I would never wish for you to feel that people come here to ignore you.
Awfully sorry old boy.

Nobody's a fuckwit. Everybody just take a deep, cleansing breath.

As I said, it made me feel accepted. I pop over to your blog and the comments just flow on and on, and I burn with jealousy. It makes my ears hot, and my cats get frightened.

Must be why your blog is getting published...

Caroline said...

Must be.
Most of my comments are from my cats pretending to be real people.

Guess that answers my question about why so many people talk about fish and mice on your blog.

Plus the three-day discussion of yarn.

For the record, your blog is one of my very favorites.

You're a star.
So - will you sing me a song? ;-)
