Angry snow globe

You can't see it very well in the crappy cell phone picture, but Chicagoland was seized by unpleasant children and shaken quite badly Friday. Huge flakes of snow were swirling all around, sometimes moving horizontally rather than drifting downward. The air around us was seen zipping at over 30 miles per hour.

That's pretty fast. I have no idea why it was in such a hurry, or what its ultimate destination may have been.

Very few of our crystallized little friends stuck on the ground, but instead all the water molecules from Thursday's rain storms huddled together for warmth, creating a substance known as "ice." It's quite slippery, as it turns out.

I am ready for spring now, please.

We have this problem with horizonatal midges in early autumn when one has to refrain from breathing in case you snort a dozen of the little blighters.
They also stick together in gangs and catch you unawares under trees making you wave your arms about in a most unattractive manner!

Mr Moon, have only just noticed the yellow sign in your sidebar, it is fabulous!

That's exactly what I was going to say, nmj - isn't it great? How do you do that, Mr Moon?

Minx: I think you are absolutely right. They are crafty, with something of a pack mentality on days like this.

NMJ & Ms. M: Thanks for noticing the sign, and I'm glad you enjoy it. I wanted to put it more prominently, but didn't want to lose a sidebar for it. The ingredients, Ms. M, are Photoshop and a little chunk of time I had at work Friday.

I am SO sorry about those errant snowflakes and nasty water molecules!! I miss neither of them from my time in Cleveland and Cincinnati and that 30 mile hour wind from Scotland. However the warm weather here in N'awlins is scarey too - crickets!, Mosquitos! its only JUST March!!
I'm sure in June you will hear me ranting on my blog about the joys of errant snowflakes and solid water molecules!!

It'll end soon!

COOL sign!! I am but a Photoshop illiterate compared to you. I bow to your superior abilities.

And I remember all the loveliness associated with ice, like pouring boiling water over my car door lock in hopes that it would thaw things so I could get in and drive to work in hazardous conditions.

Be well and be careful. I'm sending you some summery thoughts. Hope they help.

Cursed: Glad to know we're combining the worst weather from Ohio and Scotland. A cricket doesn't sound like a bad thing at all.

HinSF: I've loved your posts over the last couple of days, just so you know. I am an intermediate Photoshop user, and am surrounded constantly by folks whose knowledge of the software makes me look awful. So I take your compliment and hold it to my heart. I'm in the process of learning more, though, so maybe I'll be getting better...

And thanks muchly for the summery thoughts. They're quite welcome. I read your beach post with envy.
