News in brief

Summer begins at 1:06pm today. So enjoy that.

Wes Craven is suing Pauly Shore. I did not read further.

The AFI released their new list of the top 100 films from the last 100 years. The top ten are:
1. "Citizen Kane," 1941.
2. "The Godfather," 1972.
3. "Casablanca," 1942.
4. "Raging Bull," 1980.
5. "Singin' in the Rain," 1952.
6. "Gone With the Wind," 1939.
7. "Lawrence of Arabia," 1962.
8. "Schindler's List," 1993.
9. "Vertigo," 1958.
10. "The Wizard of Oz," 1939.
Take that, all other films.

Please stop talking about Rosie O'Donnell. Nobody wins.

Yoko Ono is thinking of writing a memoir. I hope she tells the story about how she sold that cow for $200,000.

Hasbro is making a Stan Lee action figure. Perfect for wooden cameos when you re-enact Marvel comics movies at home.

*****

That is all. Hope my Google hits don't go nuts.

A Stan Lee action figure! Maybe one doll can make a difference! Will it have a big argument with the Jack Kirby figure and the Jim Steranko figure over who created whom? :-)

Man Slippies,

Oh my, the hits you will get. From those looking for Rosie (though why would anyone do that) to others looking for Stan Lee or Yoko Ono or "The Godfather."

So, how man of the top have you seen?

I've see four of the films, don't know who Rosie O'Donnell is and am very interested in the cow story. Was it a real cow? I'm ignoring the bit about reenacting Marvel comics as I go off to find my Batman figures...

Or was it Steve Ditko? Help me American people! Batman figures? hmmmm.

A bit sad that the last good film was made in 1993 and nothing with Shortpants Cruise or Steven Seagull - the joint owners of the Wooden Cameo award.
The Feckers inform me, Verilion, that Rosie O'Doughnut was in The Flintstones - another classic!

Jon: You're not suggesting that Stan Lee created Jack Kirby are you?

GT: I'm weirdly pleased to report that I didn't get a single hit for any of the terms in this post. And I think I've seen 8 of them.

Ver: Minx has come along to tell you who Rosie is. It was a real cow. I can't recall the circumstances (hence my hope she'll include such an anecdote in her book). As for the Batman figures, color me jealous.

Jon: I think you're in danger of exceeding the comic book geek quota for the site. I can feel the foundation tremble.

Minx: Yup, she was in the Flintstones movie. Betty.

Rodrigo: Not speaking Spanish, I can only assume you're telling me how wonderful and special I am. Thanks.

Moon Topples,

I love Babel Fish... after a teeny bit of homework, I have uncovered your mystery guests words:

In Portuguese.

"Oi, I found yours blog for google tá well interesting I liked this post. When to give gives passed for mine blog, is on personalized t-shirts, shows step by step as to create a well personalized t-shirt way. Until more."

So... are you going into the T-Shirt business with this loquacious solicitor?

hee hee...

I loved this post, the movies are fabulous, I only have 3 of them left to see.
As an aside (code for totally useless information), about five years ago, a woman went to Casablanca and opened a 'Rick's Cafe' that was an exact replica of the Rick's in the movie. Or... there's Bugs Bunny as Rick.

I can't imagine a Yoko Ono memoir...she's too emotional about JL (even today!).
