And besides, Yoko's been there already
My friend Kyle seemed personally offended when I told him I had scrapped my side-trip to Liverpool. I guess he felt it was the kind of thing he'd regret if it were his trip.
I was thinking about that this morning, and about the huge percentage of my music collection which was made by English artists. Liverpool or no, this is still a music trip. It is through music that I have developed my curiosity and interest in London. And, truthfully, about most other things as well.
And while the Beatles and Elvis Costello may have spent their formative years in Liverpool, they tended to record their music in London. Arguably, they became interesting there. And if I'm gonna tourist through the lives of artists, the places they made the sounds seem a lot more interesting to me than their childhood homes.
My first time in Colorado, I made a little side trip while in Boulder to see the house where they shot the exteriors for Mork and Mindy. Bad example, sure, but nevertheless there wasn't anything there. And big fans of, say, my blog, wouldn't find much enlightenment trying to track down any of the 30 or so places I've lived.
If you read the post where I described my attempt to do this myself, you already know that they might even get themselves shot at.
Besides: Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Flock of Seagulls and OMD were all from Liverpool, too. So I'm guessing they don't have magical water there or anything.

Tell me you did NOT use the word tourist as a verb. Not on purpose, anyway. PLEASE.
