Great pics (she says still wimpering in camera envy!!). The second one when I first glanced at it reminded me of a war torn landscape - Beriut or Bagdad...

Best Wishes

I'm swinging between the last two images. I really like the optics and how it gradually loses focus and then I find that last picture really funny: please EXIT and the police car door with that motto. Great pics.

I don't know if you'd be interested but I found this photo competition page on the BBC last night while I was reading the news. It's just taken me ages to find the proper link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/6179730.stm

so hope you're interested.

Very powerful images. Black and white conveys things that color simply cannot.

They all speak to me in different ways.

Kirsty: I had the same thought when I snapped it: "This sort of rubble, I could be anywhere in the world."

Ver: No picture of a bar should be entirely in focus, is my motto. And the slogan on the door is authentic; that's a genuine Chicago Police squad car door from a ways back. Will definitely look into the contest you mention, although I'm guessing my blatant Americanishness might disqualify me.

HinSF: Yeah, I've never known why exactly I am drawn so much to black and white, but once when very tired I explained to someone that I always change people shots to black and white, and when I was asked why I said "it removes them from time."

I still don't know what that actually meant, but it sounds kind of nice. Bit pretentious, maybe, but nice.

How I wish I have your time and talent to take shots like these. What camera are you using?

Cool! :)

Nova: Well, thank you very much!

Canterbury: These shots were all taken with a Canon Digital Rebel XTi and a 50mm lens.

Suzan: Although I am not allowed to use emoticons, I hope a thank you without a smiley face will suffice.

Thank you.

Very nice, Mean Lippies. I had the same response to image #2 as Kristy did.

My monitor is a little dark so these seem extra moody to me but I can still detect the breath, the great light contrast.

Nice work, Mr. T.

Your photographs make me want to write. Now, if you could photograph something that links to what I should be writing, that'd be great.

Black and white photos don't age - colour ones do. I wonder why?

Nice pics, especially the first one.
