A cancellation
The Moon Topples Third Fiction Contest, which was scheduled to begin on August 1st, is canceled. I apologize to those of you who were looking forward to it, but my heart just isn't in it this time, and running the comp involves too many people and too much time for me to enter into it halfheartedly.
My current thinking is that it will probably return in February and be an annual thing, rather than trying to host it every three months.
If you find yourself itching for a fiction contest, there is still time to enter the one over at Clarity of Night. Deadline for that is August 1st.
Again, my apologies for pulling the plug so close to launch.

Oh dear, a perfectly good entry gone to waste!
Respect to you, Maht. There is no point in doing something unless you feel it is right for you. Your competitions have produced some excellent fiction and I expect that those participants will return when you set the next one.
I'll admit I'm bummed, but hey, we all gotta make our own choices.
Until February!
Hope you're ok honey x
) : Oh what will I take to the writing group on Saturday? But it's true if you don't feel like doing it it wouldn't be fair on your participants.
So, is now not a good time to hassle you about the Monday Morning Haiku? I reckon you got 8 1/2 hours left.
Man Sipples, I hope you are okay. Your contests are really nice affairs but I am glad you are postponing it if your heart is not entirely into it. I know you put a lot of work into it.
But, I guess that would mean, you will have more time to write. Okay, so get writing then.
Oh pooh. But you're right to pull out of it if you're heart's not in it. There'll be other times, if you want them. You take care of yourself.
sorry to hear this, but i respect your decision. i will look forward to February then.
hope you are fine too. :)
And to February!
Perhaps I will have built up the courage to enter it by that point, because I had every intention of sidelining it this time.
Minx... couldn't you post your shoe entry as a blog?
Please?
Hope you are doing well Maht... best to you.

Good that you're doing what's right for you, Mr. Moon. I can imagine how much work it must involve. Wishing you well with your writing.
That stinks...perhaps you should still go ahead with the prompt though, and treat it as a blog carnival or something?
No worries at all. It's August. We're supposed to be doing nothing like the rest of the civilized world. I was looking forward to trying my hand at an exciting prompt, but my misery at this contest's postponement will hopefully inspire me to crank out some more pages on my novel. Till February then...when it's cold and grey in Chicago.
Hope you're ok...
Dearest Maht
I feel this is a good decision for you. Your competitions are wonderful and we all enjoy them so much. An annual event is PERFECT for everyone. The standard will be incredible! We will all so look forward to it.
You're a brilliant co-ordinator but you must have time to do your own writing. I hope it's going well.

Everyone: Thanks so much for being so nice about the lack of a contest this week. You are all very wonderful, and I am gladdened all over again that I have met such people through blogging.
Minx: Hang on to that entry. You'll need it in February.
Hoodie: Hope to see you in Feb.
Caroline: Thanks very much, but I'm fine. Sorry if I alarmed you.
Ver: You are absolutely right to hound me for haiku. I didn't post one because I didn't want anyone looking for the contest to miss that it was called off, but there is always a Monday just around the corner...
David: Yes, writing. I shall. You do the same.
AbVan & C.S.: Thanks for being so supportive.
Scarlett: I cannot immediately recall if you were around for the last one, but the emphasis has always been on writing something and not on competition. So come Feb, I'll be looking for your entry.
Signs: Wishing you good things with your writing as well.
SilverN: That's a thought, certainly, but I'm not entirely sure what a Blog Carnival is. Perhaps I shall look into this a little more...
Liz: I'm glad you are able to channel your disappointment into something creative.
Zinnia: Yup, I'm okay.
Pants: I find your encouragement particularly uplifting. Thank you for your thoughts and support.
Scarlett & Ver: New post coming in honor of your finally recognizing my thoughtfulness...uh...I mean...
Soggy: How sweet. I hope your summer is lovely as well. Of course, yours is in Italy while mine is in muggy Chicago, so you may have an advantage.
Nothingman: The first contest was in February of this year, and I think it was a good one. Events like this make a lot of sense in winter to me.
